Met Ball 2014 Fashion Wrap

The Met Ball has come and gone for another year, and this years theme 'White Tie and Decorations' brought a flock of glamorous celebrities, much more well dressed than what last years Punk theme resulted in.

White Tie is traditionally the most formal dress code, well-above black tie, consisting of beautiful ball gowns for women and full suits with waistcoats for men.

Sarah Jessica Parker, co-chair of the ball, once again strictly stuck to the theme (remember that stunning punk-inspired headpiece from 2013) with a beautiful black and white gown by Oscar de la Renta and gloves to match. Oh and just incase you forget who designed it; Oscar’s name is stitched on the dress. Other stylish ladies who donned beautiful gowns for the occasion included model Arizona Muse dressed by Ralph & Russo and Claire Danes in another Oscar de la Renta.

Celebrities including Rihanna (Stella McCartney) and Emma Stone (Thakoon) took an edgier approach to white tie by baring their midriffs with crop tops, whilst Blake Lively (Gucci), Zoe Saldana (bespoke Michael Kors) and Olivia Munn (Diane Von Furstenberg) just to name a few did white tie sexy with plunging necklines. Cara Delevingne showed her rebellious side by breaking the rules with white pants and a black crop by Stella McCartney.

Lupita Nyong’o who was recently named People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Person was the biggest fashion risk taker of the night wearing a feathered and beaded mini dress by Italian fashion house Prada, a very different look to the style Lupita was praised for during this years awards season.

Kim Kardashian was there again with Kanye West right by her side, and she was a definite improvement on last years floral fiasco, wearing a side-split navy and black Lanvin dress. But it was younger sister Kendall Jenner who really shined at her first Met Ball appearance in a bespoke fishtail gown by Topshop. Swimmingly Stunning.
